Aftercare Instructions

  • Keep the second skin on for 2-4 days unless there is a leak – if you notice that water is able to penetrate the enclosed area, then remove it right away.

  • If you used saran wrap instead of second skin, remove after 2-3 hours and do not cover/bandage the area again.

  • Avoid heavy physical activity for the first week to minimize sweat and stretching the area that was tattooed.

  • Avoid alcohol for at least 48 hours. Alcohol can depress your immune system, delay healing and increase risk of infection.

  • If this is your first time using second skin keep in mind there will be plasma/ink trapped inside that may cause the tattoo to appear blurry – this is normal!

  • Use lukewarm water to gently remove the second skin. Grab a corner closest to you and slowly peel away from your body.

  • Use an unscented antibacterial soap to gently cleanse the area. Dial soap is recommended. Do not scrub or exfoliate the tattoo, this includes loofas and washcloths.

  • Make sure the area is dry (air dry or gently pat with a clean paper towel) and begin using a mild unscented lotion (Aveeno, etc) to moisturize. Use a minimal amount, a very thin layer is all you need.

  • Continue cleansing and moisturizing 1-2 times a day for about 1.5 weeks.

  • Do not soak or submerge the tattooed area in water for 3 weeks. This means no swimming, baths, saunas, hot yoga, etc.

  • Do not wax or shave the tattoo and surrounding area for at least 1 month.

  • Minimize direct sun exposure. Once the tattoo is fully healed you should use SPF regularly to ensure the longevity of the tattoo.
